Compress Image Online

Make photos smaller for websites, email and upload forms, with an exact target size if you need one.

Choose images (JPG, PNG, WebP) or drop them hereFiles are processed in your browser and never uploaded.

Compress Image reduces the file size of photos and graphics while keeping them looking good. Smaller images load faster on websites, send quicker on WhatsApp and email, and fit within the strict upload limits of job portals, exam forms and visa applications (such as 'under 50 KB' or 'under 100 KB').

Set the quality yourself, or type a target size in KB and the compressor will find the highest quality that fits. You can also shrink very large photos to a maximum width. Several images can be compressed at once.

How to use the Compress Image tool

  1. Select one or more JPG, PNG or WebP images.
  2. Choose the output format. JPG suits photos, and WebP gives the smallest files.
  3. Either set a quality, or enter a target size such as 50 KB.
  4. Click Compress and download each image. The size saved is shown next to it.

Features

  • Target-size mode for exact KB limits (20 KB, 50 KB, 100 KB…).

  • JPG, WebP or original-format output.
  • 100% private: compression happens in your browser.

Tips for best results

Phone photos are often 3–6 MB because of their resolution. Setting a max width of 1600–2000 px gives a big saving with no visible loss on screens. PNG is a lossless format, so to make a PNG much smaller, export it as JPG or WebP. For transparent logos, keep PNG or use WebP.

Compatibility and limits

The Compress Image tool works in all modern browsers, including Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari and Samsung Internet, on computers, tablets and phones. Images are processed at their full original resolution. Very large photos (above about 50 megapixels) may exceed the memory limits of some mobile browsers, so if a phone struggles, try a computer or resize the image first. Your original file is never modified, because the result is saved as a new file.

Privacy: your files never leave your device

Your images are processed locally in your browser using the HTML5 canvas and WebAssembly. Photos are never uploaded, so personal pictures, ID documents and client work stay on your device. There is no account, and no copies are kept on any server.

Frequently asked questions

How do I compress an image to 50 KB?

Enter 50 in the Target size field and click Compress. The tool lowers the quality, and if needed the dimensions, until the file is 50 KB or less.

Will compression reduce image quality?

Slightly, but at 60–80% quality the difference is usually invisible. Use a higher quality for print.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Images are compressed by your browser and never leave your device.

Which format is best?

JPG is the most compatible for photos. WebP is 25–35% smaller and works in all modern browsers. PNG is best for graphics that need transparency.

Can I compress many images at once?

Yes. Select several files and each one is compressed with the same settings.
