Drag directly on the image with a mouse or your finger, or type exact pixel coordinates for precise work. Preset ratios such as 1:1, 4:3, 16:9, 9:16 and passport size (35×45) lock the shape for you.

Tips for best results

For social media, use 1:1 for profile pictures and Instagram posts, 9:16 for Stories and Reels, and 16:9 for YouTube thumbnails. After cropping, use Resize Image to hit exact pixel dimensions such as 1080 × 1080, or Compress Image to reduce the file size.

Cropping is one of the simplest ways to improve a photo. Removing empty space and distractions draws attention to the subject and often makes the file smaller too. Cropping before compressing or converting also means less data to process, so later steps are quicker.

Compatibility and limits

The Crop Image tool works in all modern browsers, including Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari and Samsung Internet, on computers, tablets and phones. Images are processed at their full original resolution. Very large photos (above about 50 megapixels) may exceed the memory limits of some mobile browsers, so if a phone struggles, try a computer or resize the image first. Your original file is never modified, because the result is saved as a new file.

Privacy: your files never leave your device

Your images are processed locally in your browser using the HTML5 canvas and WebAssembly. Photos are never uploaded, so personal pictures, ID documents and client work stay on your device. There is no account, and no copies are kept on any server.
