Merge PDF Files

Combine two or more PDFs into a single document, in any order.

Choose PDF files or drop them hereFiles are processed in your browser and never uploaded.

Merge PDF combines several PDF files into one document. Put scanned pages together, attach a cover letter to a CV, or bundle invoices, certificates and reports into a single file that is easy to email or upload.

Pages are copied exactly as they are, so text, links, fonts and images keep their original quality. You decide the order before merging, and the whole process runs in your browser, so the files are never uploaded.

How to use the Merge PDF tool

    1. Click the upload box and select two or more PDF files. You can add more at any time.
    2. Arrange them with the ↑ and ↓ buttons. The first file in the list comes first in the result.
    3. Click Merge PDFs.
    4. Download merged.pdf.

    Tips for best results

To put together only certain pages, first take them out of each file with Split PDF or Delete PDF Pages, then merge the results. If the merged file is too big for email, run it through Compress PDF. Password-protected PDFs have to be unlocked before they can be merged.

    Compatibility and limits

The Merge PDF tool works in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, Opera and Samsung Internet, on desktop and mobile. Processing speed depends on your device: a typical document finishes in a few seconds, while files with hundreds of pages or very large scanned images may take longer on older phones. Encrypted (password-protected) PDFs must be unlocked before they can be processed. Your original file is never changed, because the result is always saved as a new download.

Privacy: your files never leave your device

Your PDF is opened and processed by JavaScript running in your own browser, using open-source libraries we host ourselves. The document is never uploaded to our server or anyone else's. Once the page has loaded, the tool even works without an internet connection. Close the tab and the file is gone from memory.

    Frequently asked questions

How many PDFs can I merge?

There is no fixed limit. You can merge dozens of files. The practical limit is your device's memory.

    Will merging reduce quality?

No. Pages are copied exactly as they are, with no re-compression.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Merging happens locally in your browser, which keeps confidential documents private.

Can I change the order of the files?

Yes. Use the up and down arrows in the list before you click Merge.

Why can't one of my files be added?

It is probably password-protected or damaged. Open it in a PDF reader to check, and remove the password if it has one.
