Split PDF

Extract a page range into a new PDF, or split a document into single pages.

Choose a PDF file or drop it hereFiles are processed in your browser and never uploaded.

Split PDF breaks a PDF document into smaller parts. Pull out just the pages you need, such as one chapter, a signed page or a single invoice, or turn every page into its own PDF file.

Type a page range like 1-3, 7, 10-12 to extract exactly those pages into a new document. You can also split every page and download them all together as a ZIP archive. Pages are copied without any loss of quality.

Tips for best results

Page numbers always refer to the physical page order in the file, starting at 1, even if the document prints different numbers on its pages. To remove a few pages and keep everything else, Delete PDF Pages is quicker. To join extracted parts back together in a new order, use Merge PDF.

Compatibility and limits

The Split PDF tool works in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, Opera and Samsung Internet, on desktop and mobile. Processing speed depends on your device: a typical document finishes in a few seconds, while files with hundreds of pages or very large scanned images may take longer on older phones. Encrypted (password-protected) PDFs must be unlocked before they can be processed. Your original file is never changed, because the result is always saved as a new download.

Privacy: your files never leave your device

Your PDF is opened and processed by JavaScript running in your own browser, using open-source libraries we host ourselves. The document is never uploaded to our server or anyone else's. Once the page has loaded, the tool even works without an internet connection. Close the tab and the file is gone from memory.
